There is a version of this post that starts with a market trend, quotes an analyst and ends with a call to action. This is not that version.

The Procurement Futures Fund exists because of a conversation I kept having, with CPOs, with category directors, with senior procurement professionals who had been in the function for a decade or more and were quietly watching every other team in their organisation receive investment, tooling and training for the AI era while procurement waited.

Every function got its moment

Engineering got GitHub Copilot. Marketing got generative AI content tools. Finance got intelligent document processing. Sales got AI-powered prospecting and coaching. Each function had its disruption, its panic, its recovery and its new equilibrium. By the time this happened, those teams had resources: courses, certifications, internal training programmes, vendor-funded enablement.

Procurement’s disruption came with agentic AI, systems that do not assist but act. Autonomous sourcing. Negotiation agents. Intake-to-outcome flows that compress weeks into hours. This is not incremental. It changes the job description of every procurement professional in a large organisation. And when I looked for the equivalent investment in procurement upskilling that other functions had received, it was not there.

Why not a Zycus Academy

The obvious move, from a company perspective, would have been to build a Zycus Academy. Certify people on our platform. Create a training programme that doubles as a product introduction. This is how vendor education typically works and it is a legitimate model.

We chose not to do it that way. A Zycus Academy would have been useful to some people. It would not have been useful to the procurement function. Because what procurement leaders need right now is not training on any one platform. It is the foundational literacy to govern, direct and develop any agentic system, regardless of who built it.

The Procurement Futures Fund is provider-agnostic. It works with CIPS, NEVI, ISM, university programmes, independent platforms, any accredited course in Agentic AI. The choice belongs to the professional. The fund simply removes the financial barrier.

Why now

The window between where agentic AI capability is today and where it will be in two years is real. The professionals who use that window to build genuine AI literacy will be in a fundamentally different position from those who wait until it becomes urgent. We built the fund because we did not want cost to be the reason a senior procurement professional missed that window.

One hundred spots. Fifty percent co-payment. Up to EUR 1,000. No obligation to engage with us commercially. Eligible applications go through a light review by an independent panel to ensure the fund reaches the professionals who will make the most of it; most of the panel has no commercial relationship with Zycus.

This is not a sales play. It is an acknowledgement that procurement has been underserved in the AI conversation, and a small attempt to change that. If it resonates with you, apply. If it does not, I would genuinely like to know why.
