Global leader in nanotechnology research selects Zycus Spend Analysis and eSourcing

PRINCETON, N.J. June 23, 2011 – Zycus, a world leader in Spend Management Solutions, announced today that FEI Company, the world-leading producer of electron microscopes for nanoscale research, has selected its Spend Analysis and eSourcing Solution combination.

With worldwide corporate headquarters in Hillsboro, Ore., FEI has approximately 1,800 employees. It maintains research and development centers in North America, Europe, and Asia, and sales and service operations in more than 50 countries around the world. FEI’s global customer base includes researchers, scientists, engineers, lab managers, and other skilled professionals throughout the world’s institutional and national research, natural resources, electronics, and life sciences industries.

FEI’s selection of the Zycus Spend Analysis and eSourcing Solution combination represents an intention to automate what has been a largely manual process for analyzing corporate spending, indentifying, and acting upon enterprise spend management opportunities. “We were very attracted to the idea of having an automated process to centralize and classify our spending data,” says Paul Flamend, Global Manager Value Engineering Group, for FEI Company. “With Zycus, we hope to have systematic and easy means for, prioritizing our spend-management opportunities and for converting opportunities to cost savings through competitive sourcing.”

FEI’s multi-million dollar spending data is highly complex, existing in multiple source ERP systems and in three primary languages (English, Dutch, and Czech). Through the selection process, Zycus successfully completed a proof-of-concept, accurately translating, centralizing, and classifying one month worth of FEI’s total spending data and also indentifying immediate opportunities for strategic sourcing and spend management. “When Zycus collaborates with potential customers on proof of concept or business case,” observes Anurag Dixit, Zycus Vice President of Marketing, “we make a practice of identifying real spend management and strategic sourcing opportunities that are ripe for the picking. If we can do this having little specific insight into a customer’s industry or its supply base, it becomes very easy to imagine what the company’s knowledgeable sourcing and spend management professionals will be able to accomplish when they have clean, timely, and detailed spending data combined with powerful – yet easy-to-use – analytics and sourcing-event execution tools.”
