Working towards TCO in a BoM structure – Part II: eSourcing meets Desktop
In the last blog we spoke about the limitations of the usual eSourcing solutions, when it came to building a BoM structure within the interface. We also referred to the point that people are driven to use excel sheet both because of the universality of this ubiquitous spreadsheet technology and because they can’t get even close to that kind of comfort level in their RFP software. The Zycus innovation that overcomes this duality is christened ‘Flexi Price-Builder’.
The philosophy behind this innovation is that it brings to the users, a unique way of integrating their desktops with the eSourcing interface, thereby letting them incorporate the sophistication and customized structure of a pricing template in the RFP tool without quite leaving the confines of their very dear MS Excel sheets.
The way Flexi Price-Builder does this is by allowing you to import your complete MS Excel-based pricing table into its eSourcing tool and thus taking user comfort to the next level. And it is not just your usual kind of file import. It is import in the true sense of software understanding the logic and formation of the template and visually retaining the complete BoM structure, your color coding, your calculative logics, formulae etc. in all of those columns and rows. The user steps would look something like this:
- Step 1 – You open the good old MS Excel and make your pricing table (The elaborate BoM)
- Step 2 – You communicate the table structure to Flexi Price-Builder (All buttons and clicks)
- Step 3 – Voila! You import your pricing-item table into the Zycus eSourcing
Thus, instead of trying to create a spreadsheet solution inside the tool, with Flexi Price-Builder, you can now work on your MS Excel files and still gain the advantages of centralizing all your event related information within a state-of-the-art eSourcing solution.
